• Finding their way to the Red Centre – the World Rogaining Championships

    The world’s best cross-country navigators will descend on Central Australia next year ready to plot their route around picturesque desert vistas in the 2016 World Rogaining Championships.

    Rogaining is an Australian developed sport with more than 8000 regular rogainers across the country. It has been growing rapidly in Europe in recent years. Up to 1200 visitors are expected to travel to Ross River, an hour’s drive from Alice Springs in the East MacDonnell Ranges, for the event on July 23 and 24 next year.

  • Freds Pass Reserve wins additional grants

    As the ever popular Freds Pass Show wraps up another successful weekend, the Northern Territory Government has announced further funding to upgrade the Freds Pass Reserve.

    Funding of $150,000 will be provided by the government for additional toilet facilities and lights.

  • Cricket hits a six in the Red Centre

    Australia’s best Aboriginal cricketers will display their talents in the Red Centre with Alice Springs confirmed as host of the inaugural National Indigenous Cricket Championships and Imparja Cup for the next three years.

    “It’s a wonderful affirmation of Alice Springs as the birthplace of this great competition,” Chief Minister Adam Giles said.
