Grants

To support the development of sport and recreation in the Territory, the Northern Territory Government offers financial assistance to sport, recreation and local government organisations to assist the delivery of services and programs within the community.

Funding is available to peak sport and recreation bodies and organisations throughout the Territory through several different grant programs including:

• Grass Roots Development Grants - Allows organisations (including clubs, groups, service deliverers, shire and municipal councils) to apply for up to $3 000 to implement a new sport or recreation program or increase the capacity of their organisation to deliver sport or recreation services/programs.

• Facility Development Grants  - Allows sporting organisations and peak sporting bodies to apply for funding to help improve their capacity to provide affordable and accessible sport and recreation opportunities through development of their facilities.

• Peak Sport Grants - Allows peak Territory sport bodies to apply for funding to assist with increasing their capacity to develop and deliver sport.

• Active Recreation Grants - Peak recreation organisations can receive up to $130 000 to help introduce Territory wide active recreation programs. Applications open 23 November 2009 – close 15 February 2010.
  Up to date guidelines and application forms will be posted when available.

• Active Remote Community Grants - Provides assistance to remote communities to deliver sport and recreation activities to members of remote communities throughout the Territory. This is not an application based grant. The grants are directly negotiated through the Local Government Shires.
