Palmerston Water Park
Palmerston Water Park offers a fun way for the whole family to cool off. The Park houses a:
- 14 metre high, 100 metre long, six-lane racer water slide;
- wet play area for families and toddlers which includes sprays, water curtains and a shallow wading pool;
- wet play area for teenagers which includes water cannons and buckets;
café; and - barbecue and shaded areas.
Palmerston Water Park opened on 23 June 2012 with a Family Fun Day attended by almost 2 000 Territorians. Festivities and entertainment throughout the day included a live broadcast from radio Mix104.9FM, face painting, appearances from Hyper the Clown and circus acrobatic displays by Corrugated Iron Youth Arts.
Opening hours
Palmerston Water Park closed for repairs and maintenance.
The Department of Sport and Recreation advises that the Palmerston Water Park will be closed from Monday, 20 May 2013 to Friday, 24 May 2013 inclusive, while scheduled maintenance is carried out.
It is anticipated that all repairs and maintenance will be completed by the afternoon of Friday, 24 May 2013.
The Leanyer Recreation Park will be open for families to enjoy while the Palmerston Water Park is closed.

Name the slide, be the first to ride
Congratulations to the winners of the ‘Name the slide, be the first to ride’ competition. A total of 338 entries were received from school children to name the three coloured racing lanes of Palmerston Water Park water slide.
The competition winners and winning names for the racing lanes are:
Teal Green slide:
Green Machine, named by Jessica Klaube (Palmerston Senior College)
Lime Green slide:
The Lime Time, named by Luke McLaughlin (Darwin Middle School)
Yellow slide:
Sun Surfer, named by Bethany Kelly (Essington School)
Each winner and one of their friends were the first to race down the water slide at the Family Fun Day on 23 June 2012 and received a $50 meal voucher to the Palmerston Water Park café.
