SportsBiz

The Northern Territory Government’s Sportsbiz initiative was established within Sport and Recreation Division in February 2005 to assist peak sport and recreation organisations in strengthening their foundations.  The focus of Sportsbiz is to put the business into sport by providing the opportunity for organisations to access strategic business and management advice.

In order to meet the various challenges impacting the sport and recreation community, the Northern Territory Government took a lead role in implementing a Sportsbiz Unit.  In this way Sportsbiz is not only about putting the business into sport, but is also an opportunity to assist organisations to build capacity through better planning and decision making, hence paving the way for future sustainability.  To date in excess of forty organisations have sought and received advice and assistance through Sportsbiz.

Northern Territory sport and recreation clubs and peak bodies can seek advice or assistance with matters concerning:

  • Governance and Best Practice
  • Financial and Operational Management
  • Planning
  • Risk Management
  • Membership
  • Enterprise Activities
  • Capacity Building
  • Sponsorship, promotion and fundraising
  • Facility Management and Shared Use Arrangements
